19 Tuesday St Joseph Husband of Mary
The saints now in God’s presence preserve their bond of love and communion with us (Gaudete et exsultate 4).
Matthew 1:16. 18-21. 24 or Luke 2:41-51
`Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.’
The way St Joseph appears in the Bible and in our own hearts, he is always the man who acts. He doesn’t say much, he acts. If we want to summarise his fundamental attitude, we would have to say that his whole life is an embodiment of the Our Father: Our Father, may your kingdom come – the Father’s kingdom. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! Your will, the Father’s will! (19.3.1967 – JK)
