27 Wednesday 3rd week of Lent
The saints are not odd and aloof, unbearable because of their vanity, negativity and bitterness (Gaudete et exsultate 93).
Tor ‘For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.’
It isn’t enough if we do only what God has commanded and is an obligation under pain of sin. God takes the greatest pleasure in people who do what they may do, not what they must do, that is, what corresponds to God’s wishes and counsels. God often appears before us asking, wishing. It is as though he is saying: This or that would please me so much. I don’t command it, but if you do it, it will make me very happy and I will reward you with a whole string of graces. (Everyday Sanctity – JK).
